Here, we’ve recapped the tech giant’s exciting WWDC 2017 announcements and product updates. While Apple remains a consumer-focused brand, company leaders made it clear that they’re excited to empower digital transformation for today’s enterprises by creating cutting-edge technology and developer tools. It can and it will. Watch it. The new Apple Watch Operating System (OS) is great for glancing at information on-the-go. Powered by a combination of Siri intelligence and machine learning, the company’s new watch OS updates the device interface to show information that users will find most helpful based on their routines and the apps they use. MWC and IoT: What We Learned

March 31, 2017 by Matt Louden

IoT devices

Every year, Mobile World Congress (MWC) brings together global mobility experts and thought leaders to discuss the industry’s hottest topics and latest technologies. Without a doubt, the Internet of Things (IoT) was on this year’s agenda. By 2018, IoT will surpass mobile phones as the largest global connected device population. Also, the number of IoT devices is growing year-over-year by 35%, so it’s not surprising that enterprises want to explore this topic further before spending nearly $6 trillion over the next five years. Here are three hot IoT topics we heard all about at MWC 2017: Carrier-Dependent Connectivity Unlike end-user smartphones, IoT devices and sensors rely exclusively on mobile carrier data networks for connectivity. Five Findings from Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017

March 10, 2017 by Chris Koeneman

MWC

I just got back from Barcelona, where a few colleagues and I attended MWC. While there, the topic that dominated conversation was how elemental enterprise mobility has become. What started as an obscure technology is now a revolutionary force responsible for driving innovation. Many MOBIans have witnessed this transformation firsthand; it’s been exciting for us to watch. However, enterprise mobility’s evolution has come with unexpected side effects that have impacted various industries. Here are five changes we discussed at MWC: Manufacturing The management of mobile devices is moving beyond multipurpose technology in the manufacturing sector. Smartphones and other devices that are assigned to an individual increasingly must coexist with things like ruggedized devices that are purpose-built and generally assigned to a department or cost center instead. Despite this fundamental difference, both device types share common needs: asset tracking and lifecycle…
